GB News presenter Dan Wootton returned to his GB News show on Monday evening and was quick to take aim at the former Countdown star's online rants

Carol Vorderman came under fire by Dan Wootton and his panel on Monday night after she was accused of "salivating" at the prospect of Conservative MP Johnny Mercer losing his seat in the next general election.

Dan welcomed guests Carole Malone, Benjamin Butterworth and former Brexit Party MEP Belinda De Lucy to Monday's Dan Wootton Tonight to discuss Carol's tweets in which she rejoiced at Labour potentially winning Johnny's seat.

The tweet in question was read aloud by Dan on air which read: "Plymouth Moor View predicted Labour win at GE.

"Gosh, what are arrogant Johnny Mercer @JohnnyMercerUK & his wife going to do for a joint income of £160,000+ plus enormous expenses? Not a degree in sight in spite of expensive private education! So who'd employ them?" (sic)

The fact Carol appeared to sneer at the Mercers' lack of university degrees irked Dan who pulled no punches with his thoughts on her opinion.

"She's literally showing herself up as the archetypal Labour champagne socialist," Dan fumed.

He continued: "(She) actually sneers at anyone who doesn't go to university (and) believes the only way you can be part of their set is if you are a university educated person.

"I think she's been exposed as a total hypocrite."

Carole, who admitted she'd been supportive of the former Countdown star in the past, suggested Carol's going through a "midlife crisis" who has "no political clout" except for on Twitter.

Benjamin, however, claimed Dan only "hated" Carol because she attempted to "undermine the Tories", a point Dan was quick to refute.

"She is showing she's a decent person by taking on a government and a set of MPs who lie," Benjamin claimed before defending Carol further by suggesting she wasn't attacking those who aren't university educated but rather the MP specifically.

But Belinda soon weighed in to concur with Dan as she let loose: "Carol bless her, oh she is clearly quite desperate, throwing tantrums from the sidelines and pretending to be political when you really haven't had much experience.

"It's quite desperate and embarrassing but she has the right to free speech and I think she suits Labour perfectly, Labour can have her.

"She joins the like of Hugh Grant and Gary Lineker, the sneering snobby who don't like their fellow Brits. They are moving further and further away from a working-class Labour.

"Carol Vorderman is a perfect reflection of the Labour Party rejecting their roots. You can have a background and reject it later in life."

Benjamin interjected again to suggest the panel "hated" the former Countdown star for trying to "better" herself, resulting in fierce protestations from both Carole and Belinda.

The debate drew to a close as Belinda suggested Carol put her money where her mouth was an stand for election if she knew better.
