The former Olympic gold medal winner revealed the extent of her political interest

Caitlyn Jenner has claimed she received more criticism for being a Republican than she did for being trans.

Speaking on GB News, the former Olympic gold medal winner revealed the extent of her political interest.

She lamented the rise of the “liberal, woke” ideology that is “destroying” California.

Jenner told John Cleese about coming out in 2015, which she did in a 20/20 television interview with Diane Sawyer.

Jenner’s political leaning was a more contentious matter in the interview, she told Cleese.

“When I came out in 2015, I did Diane Sawyer as Bruce”, she said.

“It was the first interview I did where I spoke about dealing with gender dysphoria my entire life.

“At the end of the interview, she said ‘we spoke about gender dysphoria and the trans community, but I’m surprised, I hear you’re a Republican?’

“I went, ‘yes, we have Democrats, we have Republicans, I have always been on the conservative side.

“And she goes ‘that’s surprising’. I got more flack for being Republican than I did for being trans.”

Jenner said she is becoming more involved with politics, telling Cleese about recently standing for governor.

“This was a year and a half ago”, she said.

“There was a recall election going on in California. I have lived in California since 1973.

“I remember driving my 1973 VW Bug, I just graduated from college, I was driving to California because I was going to make it in California.

“I remember coming to the sign at the border that says, ‘welcome to California, the Golden State’, and I was so excited.

“I was going to make it there, and I did. I went to San Jose, I was there the last four years training for the [Olympic] Games.

“I won the Games, moved to Los Angeles because I was getting into the entertainment business and I just loved California.

“To watch it just being destroyed by liberal, woke Democrats, the state is run by them.”
