“When I grew up, there wasn’t even a word for it, but all of a sudden this teacher started talking to me about gender dysphoria and this and that, I’m thinking in my head, ‘that’s me’.”
Asked if she knew about her gender dysphoria, she said: “I knew about it from when I was a little kid.”

She added: “It’s just kind of the way we were born. That’s part of me and so many years, if you had a chance to read my book Secrets of My Life, I talk about all the sneaking around and how my life was just a mess, for so many years.
“I was fortunate. I had a family. I’ve lived a phenomenal life. If I would have been taught that stuff when I was in grade school, radical gender ideology, it might have just totally changed my entire life and all for the worse.
“So I want to keep this radical gender ideology out of schools. I want government out of the trans business. I would like to see the media out of the trans business.
“This is a decision, not by government, not by another, I don’t even want to government paying for gender reassignment surgery, none of that stuff.
“This is a decision between the child, the parents, mother and father, a doctor, and to be honest with you, God’s the last one. These are the ones making a decision.
“I feel like the government are coming in and teaching these kids because they’re trying to break up the family.”
Jenner has been outspoken on trans issues, long opposing trans girls competing in women’s sports.
She was one of the US’s most successful athletes in the decathlon during the 1970s and won gold in the Montreal Olympics in 1976.
Jenner went on to become a household name thanks to her involvement in the reality show Keeping Up with the Kardashians, being married to Kris Jenner before transitioning.
She argues that trans girls competing in women’s sport is a “question of fairness”, telling TMZ in 2021 that girls’ sports must be “protected”.
