Bruce Willis and his wife Emma Heming celebrated their 15th wedding anniversary today, as she posted a sweet message to sum up their marriage on her Instagram account.

The past two years have been a struggle for the Willis family after the Die Hard star was diagnosed with frontotemporal dementia (FTD) and brain disorder aphasia – forcing him to retire from acting.

Alongside a photo of herself and Willis, Heming wrote: “Today marks our 15th wedding anniversary! And today, I can make a choice. I can wallow in sorrow or I can celebrate it.

“I call this the ‘remarkable reframe.’ What I know is there is so much to celebrate. Our union and connection is probably stronger than ever. We have two bright, fun and healthy daughters.

“We have a family unit that is built on mutual respect and admiration. And simply, I just love and adore the man I married.

“I’m so proud of what we have and continue to create. So, happy crystal anniversary to us! #remarkablereframe #crystalanniversary.” (sic)

Five years ago, the couple celebrated their 10th anniversary by renewing their vows in a touching backyard ceremony with their friends and family – including Bruce’s ex-wife Demi Moore.

Touching on the happy moment, Heming said last year: “On our 10th wedding anniversary we decided to renew our vows in the same place we said ‘I do’ back in 2009.

“I’m so happy we did. Seize every opportunity to unite and celebrate with family and friends. Those are the moments and beautiful pockets of memories that you get to hold on to for a lifetime. And we get to keep those memories safe and alive for the ones that might not be able to.”

Her touching tribute comes after she recently slammed reports that Willis has “no more joy” left in his life after his diagnosis.

Posting a lengthy video on her Instagram account, Heming fumed: “It’s Sunday morning and I’m triggered. I just got click-baited.

“I’m just scrolling, minding my own business, and just saw a headline – and got click-baited – that had to do with my own family.

“The headline basically [said] there is no more joy in my husband. Now I can just tell you that is far from the truth. I need society, and whoever is writing these stupid headlines, to stop scaring people.”

She continued: “[People will think] once they get a diagnosis of some kind of neuro-cognitive disease that’s it, it’s over. Let’s pack it up. Nothing else to see here. We’re done. No, it is the complete opposite.”

Heming captioned her video post: “This is much deeper than this clickbait story about Bruce. This is about people who are educating us about dementia who have not done their due diligence on the disease and feeling the public misinformation. This is a disservice.

“I see headline after headline and blurbs of misinformation. I’m not even talking about my family, I’m used to the craziness of these farfetched headlines and stories. I’m just talking about baseline dementia awareness and what’s being fed to the public.

“To whom it may concern, please be mindful of how you frame your stories to the public about dementia and dig deeper. Thank you.”
