Resurfaced interviews appear to contradict Brooklyn Beckham’s timeline

Brooklyn Beckham's assertion his mother Victoria pulled out of designing Nicola Peltz's wedding gown at the "eleventh hour" has come under scrutiny as previously recorded interviews have resurfaced online.

In a statement released on Monday, the 26-year-old claimed Victoria cancelled her commitment to create the dress at the last minute, leaving his bride scrambling for an alternative.

Brooklyn wrote: "My mum cancelled making Nicola's dress in the eleventh hour despite how excited she was to wear her design, forcing her to urgently find a new dress."

However, footage and magazine features from the time of the 2022 wedding paint a rather different picture of how Nicola came to wear a custom creation by the late Valentino Garavani.

The American actress ultimately walked down the aisle in the bespoke Valentino gown, a process that involved travelling to Rome for the design work.

According to Nicola and her stylist Leslie Fremar's interview with Vogue at the time, the custom Valentino wedding look represented "the culmination of a year's worth of conversations with Valentino creative director Pierpaolo Piccioli's team, two trips to the Rome HQ, and two US fittings."

Fremar described the experience of selecting sketches, fabrics and embroideries as "the ultimate couture experience".

Nicola herself referred to choosing Valentino as "a no-brainer" in the same interview.

The detailed timeline outlined in the Vogue feature suggests an extensive and carefully orchestrated process rather than an emergency solution.

Fans have pointed to this interview as evidence the Valentino gown was far from a hasty backup plan, noting that such an elaborate couture undertaking would have required significant advance planning and coordination with the Italian fashion house.

A resurfaced clip from an Elle interview has added further weight to questions surrounding the timeline of events.

In the footage, Nicola described the entire Valentino experience as "a dream," recounting how her family accompanied her to the Italian capital for the occasion.

She said in the interview: "My favourite outfit I've ever worn is my wedding dress. I got to go to Rome, and design it with everyone at Valentino; it was just a dream."

The actress explained that her father brought her along with her brother, mother and Brooklyn, though the men occupied themselves elsewhere during the actual fitting sessions.

Nicola added: "Just being able to go to Rome and go to a new place that I'd never been and design a dress with my mum, it was just like magic."

The warmth with which she spoke about the process has led many to question whether this could genuinely have been a last-minute arrangement.

Social media users have been quick to challenge Brooklyn's characterisation of events, arguing that the extensive preparation involved in creating a custom haute couture gown simply does not align with an emergency scenario.

"You cannot get a CUSTOM Valentino Haute Couture wedding gown in the eleventh hour. I don't care who you are—she had that dress planned for months and months," one person wrote on social media.

Another user responded sarcastically: "Eleventh-hour one-year rescue from Valentino!"

A third commentator argued that claiming to have scrambled for a new dress at the last minute "implies they had no options a year" in advance, which contradicts the documented timeline.

One observer summed up the sentiment circulating online: "I guess billionaires have a different definition of eleventh hour."

The comments sections beneath resurfaced videos have become battlegrounds for debate over the competing narratives.

Despite the scepticism surrounding Brooklyn's account, Nicola herself addressed the dress situation back in 2022 when speaking to Variety.

"I was going to [wear a Victoria Beckham dress] and I really wanted to, and then a few months down the line, she realised that her atelier couldn't do it, so then I had to pick another dress," she explained at the time.

Her account suggested the change occurred "a few months" into the planning process rather than at the very last moment.

Some supporters have defended the couple by suggesting Nicola may have been planning multiple gowns for the ceremony, as many brides do.

"So what if she had two wedding dresses for the first wedding? Lots of brides do that. And Posh's dress didn't work out," one fan commented.

Another echoed: "She more than likely had more than one dress!"
