The oldest son has come under fire for his latest Instagram video

Brooklyn Beckham has sparked ridicule from his social media followers after opting for the American word "arugula" rather than the British term "rocket" in his latest culinary post.

The 27-year-old, who remains estranged from his famous parents David and Victoria, shared an Instagram video on Thursday featuring a salmon salad dish.

His caption reading "Sweet Jalapeño Salmon with Arugula Walnut Salad" drew swift criticism from fans who questioned his British roots.

Commenters responded with remarks including "You know fully well it's called rocket!" and "He forgets he's not American."

Others wrote "Pretty sure its rocket, when you're British" and "Arugula? Is it not Rocket?"

The recipe itself, which featured Brooklyn coating fish in his own hot sauce brand, was also dismissed by viewers as lacking culinary expertise, with one describing it as "BTEC cooking."

Victoria Beckham marked her 52nd birthday on Friday, with her son Romeo, 23, being the first of her children to publicly celebrate the occasion.

The younger Beckham brother posted a photograph of himself with his mother alongside the message: "Happy Birthday mum love you so so much have the best day @victoriabeckham."

Romeo also shared a nostalgic image from his childhood showing the pair watching his father at a football match.

Cruz, 21, had not yet posted a tribute, though his girlfriend Jackie Apostel shared a heartfelt message thanking Victoria "for raising my favourite human in the whole world".

Brooklyn, meanwhile, made no public acknowledgement of his mother's birthday, continuing the family rift that has seen him cut off contact with his parents.

The Beckham family feud has now stretched over a year, with David and Victoria having had no direct communication with their eldest son, who has missed countless milestones for the family.

The breakdown followed Brooklyn and his wife Nicola Peltz failing to attend David's 50th birthday celebrations.

Relations deteriorated further when Brooklyn and Nicola's legal representatives contacted the Beckhams' lawyers, insisting that all future communication be conducted through official channels.

In the weeks before Christmas, Brooklyn took the dramatic step of blocking both his mother and father on Instagram.

The situation escalated again in January when he published a lengthy six-page statement on social media, making explosive claims about his upbringing and relationship with his parents.

In that letter, Brooklyn alleged his parents had exerted control over him throughout much of his life and had attempted to separate him from Nicola.

He also claimed Victoria had danced "inappropriately" with him during his first dance at his 2022 wedding, leaving him embarrassed.

Victoria has since addressed the ongoing tensions, emphasising the importance of her children behaving "appropriately".

When discussing her 14-year-old daughter Harper, the former Spice Girl described her as "very sweet, very kind" and notably "very appropriate, which I think is really important as well".

Speaking more broadly about the estrangement, Victoria told The Wall Street Journal: "We've always tried to be the best parents that we can be.

"And you know, we've been in the public eye for more than 30 years right now, and all we've ever tried to do is protect our children and love our children."
