The iconic 1990s band were met with a lukewarm response from concert-goers

Blur singer Damon Albarn launched into a furious rant during a Coachella performance this past weekend before vowing never to return to the US festival.

The 56-year-old became angry with the unenthusiastic crowd as the rock band took to the stage.

Concert-goers found themselves being sworn at as Albarn hit out at the audience, ordering them to “f***ing sing”.

It came as the Brit-Pop band passionately delivered their ‘90s hits such as Girls & Boys and Popscene to an unresponsive flurry of Coachella attendees.

As the singer seemed to make an attempt to get the fans moving and encouraged them to sing along, he was met with a subdued response.

The American audience didn’t seem enthralled by the live show and it soon became clear Albarn wasn’t impressed by their lack of enthusiasm.

He eventually yelled: “You’re never seeing us again, so you might as well f***ing sing it.”

As a clip showing the awkward moment made it to social media, fans of the band expressed their outrage at the crowd’s snub.

Taking to X, formerly Twitter, many expressed their frustration, with one writing: “WHAT THE F*** IS HAPPENING. I'm convinced coachella has the worst vibes and people possible. it’s f***ing Blur, show some respect!!!”

“This coachella crowd doesn’t deserve blur,” another penned while a third fumed: “The blur coachella performance actually hurt me YOU PEOPLE DONT DESERVE BLUR.”

“Most of these ppl at coachella don’t even know how lucky they are to see blur THAT SHOULD BE MEE,” another added.

However, others were understanding of the crowd’s reaction, with someone else pointing out: “Shouting at them like a schoolteacher - I wouldn't sing in those circumstances either.”

“Blur did reign supreme in the UK when I was a kid. But 25 years is a long time. If an American 20 something in this day and age recognises them at all, I'd be surprised. We're old, they're young, and that's life,” argued another. (sic)

The Coachella performance was the band’s first time back on the US festival stage since 2013, where they played their greatest hits to a far livelier audience.

The group became a Brit-Pop sensation after finding fame in the 1990s. While they split for a few years, the band reunited last year.

During the height of their fame, fans were embroiled in a bitter feud with Oasis listeners.

Also representing the Brit-Pop culture, Oasis' frontman Liam Gallagher has also made headlines recently amid speculation of the band's comeback.

It came as former bass player Andy Bell was asked if he thinks warring brothers Noel and Liam Gallagher would ever reconcile to bring the band back, he surprisingly replied: “Yeah, they probably will. I think yeah, they probably will do it.”

However, last week Gallagher quashed the rumours, writing on X: "Andy bell from ride the shoe gazing phenomenon should really not be getting people’s hopes up it’s not big and it’s not clever LG x."
