The Apprentice star allegedly got into an altercation with a journalist

The BBC is said to be considering axing Thomas Skinner from Strictly Come Dancing after he allegedly left a press event.

GB News was told by the BBC at the event that Mr Skinner's absence was due to a work call.

However, other reports suggest the Apprentice star, 34, had a small tussle with a journalist and her phone after being recorded, with Mr Skinner leaving the room, saying: "I'm not doing this."

The Daily Mail claims that the 34-year-old only took part in several interviews before leaving the event, with organisers furious and BBC bosses considering his future on the show.

The incident was thought to have occurred when he was upset with being recorded, which is a procedure for the event.

He was sitting next to former Chelsea footballer and fellow Strictly contestant Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink when a female journalist questioned why he wanted to take part in Strictly while recording him.

Mr Skinner allegedly said: "What's that?" before picking up the phone from the table, prompting the woman to angrily ask him: "What are you doing, can you answer the question, we have only got three minutes. I'm just recording him."

BBC escorts took Mr Hasselbaink out of the room while the Apprentice star left after the journalist retrieved her phone.

A source claimed: "This is exactly what Strictly did not need. With all the recent controversy, bosses wanted this series to be smooth sailing, but Thomas is already causing havoc.

"It's unprecedented for a celebrity to walk out of the show's media launch day, and bosses think it's really bad form.'

"If this is a sign of things to come, Strictly has a big problem."

Bosses are now having a crisis meeting about whether Mr Skinner can stay on the show, according to the Daily Mail.

The BBC has received dozens of complaints about its decision to bring in Mr Skinner after he met Donald Trump's Vice President, JD Vance.

BBC director-general Tim Davie defended the decision to cast the former Apprentice star, just before the incident.

He said: "That was not my decision, that was the production team looking for those people... who want to do Strictly, and those people they thought would be interesting to the audience.

"Clearly, we wouldn't take anyone whose views are just beyond the pale, or we would see as completely unacceptable or not suitable, racist views, all those things, we wouldn't accept them.

"But that's not the case here, from what I know, I'm not an expert on the individual, per se."

Mr Skinner shared with fans his first day of rehearsals with his professional dance partner.

He said: "I've just got back from my first day dancing with my partner. I'm not allowed to say who I've been partnered up with yet, but I've gotta say, I loved it today.

"First day dancing, I wasn't great at the moves, and it was hard to remember them, but I didn't stop laughing. Me and my partner were in hysterics. The crew and the contestants are brilliant, such good people."
