The first Strictly Come Dancing star of the series will be sent home this weekend

Strictly Come Dancing fans have claimed producers at the BBC show have secretly picked their favourites due to a peculiar trend.

Each week, the celebs and their professional partners are given a new routine to perform as well as a catchy tune they'll be dancing to.

These routines are announced prior to Saturday evening's show, meaning fans have a number of days to pre-empt how each star will perform.

For week two, Zara McDermott, Layton Williams, and Annabel Croft will all be performing a Quickstep while Krishan Guru-Murthy, Ellie Leach and Angela Rippon will take on the Foxtrot.

Charleston is on the agenda for Nikita Kanda and Bobby Brazier while Adam Thomas will take on the Tango.

Elsewhere, Les Dennis and his pro partner Nancy Xu are tasked with a Samba, while Jody Cundy takes on the Paso Doble, Eddie Kadi faces a Cha Cha, and Angela Scanlon will perform a Jive.

Amanda Abbington

The final two stars who'll be performing a dance unlike any other their co-stars are Nigel Harman and Amanda Abbington who'll take on the Viennese Waltz and Saldaq, respectively.

While it's not unusual for just one celebrity each week to perform a specific dance, some fans have taken issue with the fact that this is the second week running that both Harman and Abbington will be performing a routine completely different from their cast mates.

In week one, for instance, Harman performed a leaderboard-topping Paso Doble while Abbington also impressed with her Viennese Waltz.

It's a trend that hasn't gone unnoticed by eagle-eyed Strictly fans, with many taking to social media to question why Harman and Abbington have been given unique routines two weeks in a row.

On Twitter, one fan responded to an article about the week two dances: "Amanda and Nigel getting dance styles no one else is dancing, two weeks in a row... #Strictly," followed by a curious-looking emoji.

"Producers are fixing it for a strictly win," a fellow fan replied as a result while others over on Instagram echoed the bemusement.

Replying to the Strictly account's post about the week two routines, one fan commented: "Hmmm, 2 weeks in a row that Nigel and Amanda get to be the only ones to dance a certain dance style, while the other contestants double or triple up???

"BBC producers favourites becoming very clear... They have both been given their own dance styles that no one else is dancing, two weeks in a row to help them stand out.

"So obviously someone is favouring them in production," the disgruntled user claimed.

GB News has contacted the BBC for comment regarding the claims.

While some Strictly fans showed off their detective skills, others were simply quick to express their excitement at this week's upcoming routines.

Another Strictly said of Harman and his partner Katya Jones' upcoming dance: "Nigel and Katya have the Viennese waltz. It's going to get amazing."

While a second praised the show as a whole: "We have some good dances and song choices to look forward to this week!"

It's been quite a hectic week for the Strictly class of 2023 as they head for just their second week on the show.

The likes of McDermott revealed a painful-looking injury that threatened to derail her rehearsals with Graziano di Prima, while Rippon left fans stunned with a major career turn.

This weekend will also see the first star of the series sent home, with Kanda and Dennis looking the most likely to be sent packing.
