The former BBC star presented the children's series from October 1993 to September 2001

Sarah Cawood has admitted that she is "anxious" and fears that her breast cancer has returned as she opened up about her previous diagosis during an emotional video.

Cawood was initially diagnosed with stage one breast cancer back in September 2022 and managed to make a full recovery, but she previously discovered another lump in her breast in June last year - just nine months after her original diagnosis.

During the beginning stages, she noted that her doctor's "hunch" at the time was down to hormonal change due to her treatment, with which she agreed, and nothing more came of it.

Luckily, Cawood caught her cancer at stage one and the treatment saw her tackle the cancer which included a lumpectomy, radiotherapy and the hormone blocker Tamoxifen, which she’ll continue to take for the next five to 10 years.

She recently took to her Instagram to inform her followers that she had a constant fear that her cancer would someday return, being a "shadow on a sunny day."

Sharing a video of herself crying in bed next to her son, she penned: "I got a text today telling me I have an appointment on Tuesday… I had a mammogram two weeks ago.

"But I also told the breast care nurses I was concerned about some marks on my other boob, so I don’t know whether this appointment is about that (which has already disappeared) or my mammogram.

"I’m sure it’s the latter, but the fact it’s a bank holiday weekend and the appointment is so soon has me all kinds of anxious. It never leaves you. The fear that It’s Back.

"I’m sure it’s nothing to worry about but here’s the thing: I’m happier than I’ve ever been. My life is wonderful and I don’t want it to end anytime soon, and this stupid f**king thing that I had.

"It’s always there, like a shadow on a sunny day, threatening to ruin this amazing life I’m leading. I hope I’m overreacting, and I’m sure I am, but I’m posting this because this is the reality of having cancer: it never ever really leaves you.

"The disease does, but the anxiety is with you for the rest of your life. Here’s hoping it’s a long and healthy one. To all my pink sisters: I’ve got you, I feel you, I am you. This is what post-breast cancer anxiety looks like."

No longer working on TV, Cawood now mainly does voiceover and podcast work, previously presenting shows such as Top Of The Pops and The National Lottery.

Many of the Cawood's followers praised the mum-of-two for sharing her fears, as one replied: "How it makes you feel is so difficult to explain, you have shown it perfectly. I pray all is well and you get to breathe that big sigh of relief."

Another added: "Oh Sarah! I can't imagine how that must feel for you! You're such a brave woman and your children must be so proud!"

"We're all here for you! I know the feeling, anytime it's check-up day I immediately think the worst," a third added before another shared: "You are braver than you know!" (sic)

Cawood previously admitted that she found her own breast cancer diagnosis in 2022 very "triggering" after losing a friend to cancer a year earlier.
