BBC Bargain Hunt star speaks out following 'assault and coercive behaviour' charge

Charles Hanson, who is best known as an auctioneer on the BBC's Bargain Hunt, has released a statement after being charged with actual bodily harm, assault and engaging in controlling and coercive behaviour.
The charges against Hanson came following a domestic incident in Derbyshire after officers were called to an address in Quarndon in June.
He faces two counts of ABH and two counts of assault as well as the controlling and coercive behaviour charge.
On January 10, Hanson, 45, will appear at Derbyshire Magistrates' Court after being released on bail.
Hanson's representatives have since spoken out in regards to the charges.
On Hanson's behalf, the statement read: "I deny all of the charges. I have never behaved aggressively or unlawfully towards my family.

"We have been through some difficult times in our marriage and it is extremely sad that this has become a criminal matter.
"I will be co-operating fully with the investigation and legal process," he added to Express.co.uk.
He also told Sky News: "I deny all of the charges.
"I will be co-operating fully with the investigation and legal process."
A spokesperson for Derbyshire Police has also spoken out on the charges, saying: "The force was called to reports of a domestic incident at an address in Church Road, Quarndon in June (2023).
"A man in his 40s was arrested on suspicion of assault and was released on police bail while enquiries continued.
"On December 14, Charles Hanson was charged with seven alleged offences: Assault/ill treatment/neglect or abandonment of a child/young person to cause unnecessary suffering or injury" and "assault/ill-treat/neglect/abandon a child/young person to cause unnecessary suffering or injury."
As well as Bargain Hunt, Hanson has made appearances in the BBC's Flog It! and Antiques Road Trip.

Hanson began his career in 1999 in the ceramics and glass department at Christie’s.
