Barbara Windsor’s widower has found love three years after the award-winning actress died following a lengthy battle with Alzheimer’s disease.

Scott Mitchell, 60, is now dating someone with something in common with his late wife.

Mitchell, who tied the knot with Windsor in 2000, went official with former Eastenders actress Tanya Franks on holiday this month in Greece.

Franks, 55, played Albert Square’s Raine Cross from 2007 to 2022.

She is also known for her roles in Pulling, Mum and Broadchurch.

Windsor was meanwhile an Eastenders fan favourite, having starred as Peggy Mitchell for over two decades.

Commenting on his new relationship, Mitchell told The Sun: “Life feels really good right now and we are enjoying some special time together.”

A source added: “Scott has found love again with Tanya and is truly happy.

“His and Barbara’s friends are delighted he’s found someone to share his life with.

“It’s fairly early days but Scott is cautiously now looking forward to the future.

“They made the decision to update their wider circles while on holiday in Greece and everyone was over the moon.

“There is so much friendship and respect between them both and they’re taking things slowly.”

The group raised thousands of pounds for Alzheimer’s Research UK in Windsor’s name.

The Carry On legend died in a care home in December 2020 at the age of 83.

Windsor was first diagnosed with Alzheimer’s in 2014 and shared details about her diagnosis four-years later.
