Weather: Some sunshine today, more wind and rain to come

Today:

Mixture of sunshine and showers, these focused across the northwest and some central areas. Cloud increasing in far west later, with rain perhaps reaching Northern Ireland during the evening. Rather windy, risk of coastal gales along North Sea coasts.

Tonight:

Showers becoming confined to windward coasts. Clearing skies for many and turning chilly, especially across central and eastern UK. Turning wet and windy in the northwest later with coastal gales.

Thursday:

Band of rain moving southeast across the UK, though far southeast may stay dry. Sunny spells and showers to follow across the northwest. Windy again.

Outlook for Friday to Sunday:

Remaining unsettled with showers or longer spells of rain affecting all areas although some drier, brighter interludes are expected. Generally windy with coastal gales at times.
