The UK's national weather service forecasts large parts of England and Wales to face thunderstorms and strong winds tomorrow

The Met Office has issued two major weather warnings as Britain looks set to get battered by thunderstorms.

Strong winds will hit the south coast from 4am on Wednesday and continue to wreak havoc until 6pm.


Much of England and Wales will potentially witness thunderstorms between 9am and 7pm.

The pair of yellow weather warnings could cause travel disruption and other complications for Brits.

The South East and South West have been identified as at risk from the wind warning.

The Met Office said: "Unseasonably windy conditions, accompanied by showers or longer spells of rain, will affect southern England and Wales during Wednesday.

"The highest winds will affect the Isles of Scilly and Cornwall from early morning, spreading into other English Channel coastal areas during the morning with gusts expected to widely reach 45-50 mph and perhaps in excess of 55-60 mph in the most exposed spots in the far south and southwest of England.

"Later in the afternoon winds will start to slowly ease."

The thunderstorm warning stretches across much of England, including the East Midlands, East, London, South East, North West, South West, West Midlands and Yorkshire & Humber.

Most of Wales is also at risk of facing thunderstorms.

The UK's national weather service warned: "Heavy showers and thunderstorms are expected during Wednesday.

"Where they do develop they could be slow-moving and persistent with as much as 20-25 mm of rain falling within an hour and possibly 40 mm in 2-3 hours in a few places. Lightning and hail will be additional hazards."

Every region in the United Kingdom, including Scotland and Northern Ireland, is expected to witness rainfall tomorrow.

The Met Office has forecast for temperatures will remain mild and hover around the mid-to-high teens.

London and Cardiff will see mercury hit just 19C in the afternoon.

Temperatures in Glasgow and Belfast lag behind slightly, peaking at 17C.
