The UK's most popular beach is 'surreal in beauty' - full list

The study, carried out by journeyera.com, suggested the south of England had the most popular beaches.

Kynance Cove in Cornwall was crowned the most popular, with 61,772 hashtag mentions, working out at 154 hashtags per metre.

​This was followed by another Cornwall beach - Porthcurno Beach, which had 50 hashtags per metre of beach with 14,875 mentions.

Cornwall is known for its stunning coastlines and Kynance Cove has received lots of praise from reviewers.

It has more than 2,000 reviews on Tripadvisor with an overall rating of 5 out of 5 stars.

One reviewer wrote: "Almost surreal in beauty, and most definitely timeless, I felt like I could of been anywhere in the world, at any point. I think anyone who visits here will wish it all for themselves."

One recent visitor said it has been on their bucket list and it "did not disappoint".

Another wrote: "Without a doubt, this is one of the most beautifully stunning and picturesque piece of coastline in the UK."

Cambers Sands had the most hashtags at 120,233 - but this worked out at just 24 mentions per metre of beach.

One beach from Wales made the top 10 list - Barafundle Bay with 35 hashtags per metre of beach.

No Scottish beaches were in the top 10, but Luskentyre Beach in Scotland came in 24th with 10,584 hashtags, or four per metre of beach.
