While it is a popular holiday destination, tourists must be aware of health risks. The Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO) has updated its information on the increase in the number of reported cases of dengue on the islands of Santiago, Fogo and Brava.

Dengue in Cape Verde

Britons were advised: "Travellers should avoid mosquito bites, particularly during daytime hours.
"A dengue vaccine is licensed in the UK for the prevention of dengue disease in individuals from four years of age.
"The Joint Committee on Vaccination and Immunisation (JCVI) and World Health Organization are in the process of reviewing the product information. Recommendations on the use of this vaccine will be published in due course."
