The most beautiful places for a holiday have been shared, according to experts, with a British staycation spot topping the list
Britons go on holiday to relax, take in new cultures and see something they haven't seen before.
The most picturesque European destinations for a city break was shared and it was historical London that took the crown.
The list was put together by combining the number of city break related hashtags on Instagram with how many tags each city had to find the most Instagrammable spots.
London is home to many historical sites, including Buckingham Palace, Tower Bridge and the Shard, as well as plenty of lush parks to stroll through.

Paris was the highest-ranking city outside of the UK and it is famed for landmarks including the Eiffel Tower, Arc de Triomphe and the Louvre Museum.
The capital of Turkey, Ankara, surprisingly came in third - beating more popular city break options like Amsterdam, Rome and Prague.
It has a great selection of parks and museums, and "if you are a music enthusiast, this city hosts the International Ankara Music Festival every year with live performances every day of the month, creating a vibrant atmosphere on the streets", according to experts at NZCasinoClub who compiled the research.
A spokesperson said: “Knowing which city to choose for your next trip can be difficult, especially if you desire an aesthetically pleasing destination for your social media posts.
"All capitals offer something different, whether it be from a historical monument to stores filled with designer clothing.
"These findings are a great way to indicate which destinations are the most suitable to your taste.”

While Turkey was high on the list, a travel warning has been shared for holidaymakers looking to visit the holiday hotspot.
A fresh update has been given and Britons are warned of terrorist attacks that are "very likely", especially in places with large public gatherings.
The FCDO said: "Attacks could be indiscriminate including in places visited by foreigners, such as public buildings, places of worship, airports and large public gatherings (including major events, public holidays, and religious occasions).
"In February 2024, one person was killed in an armed attack on the Çağlayan courthouse by the terrorist group DHKP/C.
"In January 2024, one person was killed by two gunmen in the Santa Maria Catholic Church in Sariyer, in an attack claimed by Daesh." In 2022, six people were killed in an explosion in central Istanbul."
