Manchester Airport FORCED TO SHUT due to heavy snowfall

Manchester Airport has temporarily closed both its runways due to heavy snowfall.

A statement on Twitter said: “Following a period of heavy snowfall, we have temporarily closed both runways.

“Health and safety will always be our top priority and operations will resume at the earliest opportunity.

“Passengers are advised to contact their airline for the most up-to-date flight information.”

Speaking to GB News, travel expert Simon Calder says “the diversions have already started.”

“Take offs have been halted. It’s going to get worse before it gets better.

“What we will see is an awful of people building up in the terminals, unable to get anywhere.”

Mr Calder added: “The airlines are going to be furious… The airlines are going to being paying a fortune because of this.”
