Pilots turned the plane around just north of Dumfries and returned to Glasgow.

Jet2 has said the fault with the on-board oven caused smoke in the forward galley.

Passengers are due to board a replacement flight to Geneva.

A spokesperson for Jet2 said: "We can confirm that flight LS161 followed procedure and returned to Glasgow Airport after a minor fault with the oven in the forward galley created some smoke.

LATEST DEVELOPMENTS:

"The aircraft landed safely and customers will be transferred onto a replacement aircraft."

It comes after another Jet2 flight made an emergency landing at Glasgow airport on Friday night.

The plane from Lanzarote was forced to land following a medical incident onboard.

The plane departed César Manrique-Lanzarote Airport at 3.18pm local time but on it's descent declared an emergency 'Squawk 770' at around 7.05pm.
