Sky has added an extra 35 channels and thousands of boxsets to Sky Stream and Sky Glass viewers this weekend.
Until June 9, anyone with the entry-level Essential TV package will be (temporarily) upgraded to Ultimate TV at no extra cost. This free upgrade will add channels like Sky Documentaries, Sky Comedy, Sky Crime, U&Gold, Comedy Central, Sky Max, Sky History, or Sky Witness. With these new additions, you'll be able to stream shows like the BAFTA-winning Mr Bigstuff and Emmy-nominated Poker Face.
Other shows to enjoy include Matlock and The Rookie on Sky Witness, Hacks and Rob Beckett’s Smart TV on Sky Max, Boyzone: No Matter What on Sky Documentaries, Planet Weird on Sky Nature and The Righteous Gemstones on Sky Comedy.
What's the small-print? Nothing.
If you're subscribed to the Essential TV bundle, you won't need to take action at all. Overnight, Sky has flipped a switch and enabled all of the additional channels included with the Ultimate TV bundle.

For those who don't know, Essential TV was introduced at the end of last year as an affordable way to access the most talked-about US shows exclusive to Sky TV. For £15 a month, this package arrives with a selection of 100 live television channels streamed via a Wi-Fi connection, including popular free-to-air channels like BBC, ITV, Channel 5, Channel 5, Sky Arts, and of course, GB News. It also includes access to Sky Atlantic, which is where you'll stream award-winning boxsets from US network HBO, such as The White Lotus, The Last Of Us,Chernobyl, Euphoria, House of the Dragon, and Succession.
You can build your Sky Stream bundle with two different starting points, the affordable Essential TV with a more limited selection of channels — but access to on-demand shows like Game Of Thrones, Euphoria, The White Lotus, Band of Brothers, The Day of the Jackal, The Wire, and more, or the comprehensive Ultimate TV bundle with more satellite channels via Wi-Fi, including MTV, Comedy Central, and many more

In comparison, Sky Ultimate TV costs £22 a month.
All Sky TV packages arrive with a Netflix Standard with Ads subscription (usually £5.99 a month) included, which can be used to stream exclusive shows like Stranger Things, Squid Game, Sirens, Wednesday, Bridgerton, as well as original films, like Red Notice, Don't Look Up, Carry-On, Bird Box, and The Gray Man, to name just a few. These can be watched on Sky Stream, or you can sign-in to Netflix apps on your iPhone, iPad, Android phones, PC, and more.
Both of these packages can be customised with extra channels — like Sky Sports, which has been expanded with thousands of additional matches available to stream, Sky Cinema, and Sky Kids – at checkout. You can also choose between a 24-month minimum contract term, or a rolling one-month contract, like NOW (formerly NOW TV) or Netflix. However, that latter costs a little extra each month.
When 11.59pm on June 9 arrives and Essential TV viewers lose access to these extra channels, Sky will offer viewers who haven't finished one of the 35,000 additional boxsets or who want to keep watching the chance to upgrade permanently for an extra £7 a month.
The free upgrade arrives a few days after Sky confirmed that its slimline Glass Air all-in-one television will launch in the UK on June 10. From the outside, Sky Glass Air looks very similar to the slimline 4K TVs you'll find lining the shelves of your local electronics store.
It boasts a Quantum Dot display with a 4K UHD resolution and support for HDR standards. But this svelte Smart TV arrives with everything you need to stream live and on-demand television over a Wi-Fi connection. There's no need to connect a standalone box via HDMI or affix a satellite dish to the outside of your home.
Prices start from £6 per month for a 43” screen size, rising to £10 for 55”, and topping out at £13 for the 65” model.
Sky Glass Air is powered by Sky OS, née EntertainmentOS, the same custom-designed software that runs on the newly refreshed Sky Glass Gen 2 and Sky Stream. It’s designed to bring together live channels with the torrent of content from its own on-demand library and streamers like Netflix, Disney+, Apple TV+, and Prime Video.
