Samsung has seen a rise in the number of people in the UK who have ditched their iPhone to switch to one of the latest Android-powered handsets from the South Korean firm. It believes the phenomenon is related to the launch of its Galaxy AI feature, which incorporates a swathe of Artificial Intelligence (AI) functions into the device to improve photo edits, transcriptions, translations, and much more.

For a limited time, Samsung is offering 20% off its Galaxy AI-enabled handsets, starting from the affordable Galaxy A35 5G — now just £271.20 without additional trade-in discount, and rising to the all-singing, all-dancing Galaxy S24 Ultra — now £999.20 with the discount code TWENTY at checkout
While Apple has now confirmed the UK release date of its Apple Intelligence features, which will be coming to the iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Pro series, as well as some older devices, Samsung launched its Galaxy AI features at the beginning of the year.
In the months since, it has brought these features to a range of phones and tablets, including the last three generations of its flagship S Series phones, and its two most recent, lower-priced, mid-range FE handsets. A Samsung UK executive said the company has seen a more than 40% rise in customers switching from Apple handsets to Samsung in the UK since it launched Galaxy AI.
If the promise of unlocking new Galaxy AI feature isn't enough to convince you, Samsung has shared a voucher code that will discount several of its latest Galaxy smartphones by 20%. At checkout, use the code TWENTY to cut the cost of the Galaxy S24 Ultra, Galaxy S24+, or Galaxy A35 5G.
With the discount, these are the price tags of these Galaxy AI-equipped handsets:
- Galaxy S24 Ultra | 256GB | Was
£1,249, NOW £999.20 - Galaxy S24+ | 256GB | Was
£999, NOW £799.20 - Galaxy A35 5G | 128GB | Was

If you're tempted by the Galaxy S24+ or Galaxy S24 Ultra ...but still think these handsets are a little too pricey, you can drop the price tag of these flagship handsets by an extra £480 and £490, respectively with trade-in. Obviously, the exact discount will depend on the make and model that you're willing to part with.
Galaxy S24 Ultra was one of the first handsets to launch with Galaxy AI features, like the ability to transcribe meetings in real-time, with the clever feature able to separate each speaker

But if you have a relatively recent iPhone or Samsung phone to trade-in, you could cut the cost of the Galaxy S24 Ultra down to just £509.20 — less than half of the standard price tag. And the Galaxy S24+ plummets to £319.20.
That's the sort of price we'd expect for a handset with relatively modest specifications.

Samsung has said a broad rollout of artificial intelligence tools to its mobile devices has sparked a rise in the number of people in the UK switching to the firm from Apple’s iPhone.
The Korean phone maker began rolling out its suite of AI tools – known as Galaxy AI – in January and has
In contrast, the Apple Intelligence suite of AI tools is yet to launch on the iPhone 16 range which went on sale last month, and will also only be accessible on the top tier iPhone 15 Pro and Pro Max from last year’s range, as well as only two of its most recent tablets.
Speaking about the recent boom in iPhone owners moving over to Samsung devices, Annika Bizon, who serves as Marketing and Omnichannel Director for Mobile at Samsung UK and Ireland, told the PA news agency: “AI should be for everyone. We don’t believe in gatekeeping it for our most premium smartphones on the market.
“That’s why we are rolling it out to the broadest audience possible – bringing AI to tablets for the first time with the Tab S10 and launching the most affordable AI phone on the market with the S24 FE. People want to see tangible upgrades when they invest in a smartphone and we are seeing more people make the switch over to Samsung. In fact, in the UK we’ve seen a 42% increase in customers moving to us from iOS since launching Galaxy AI.”

iPhone, Mac, and iPad owners living in European Union countries will not be able to access Apple's incoming AI tools as the California company remains in a standoff with the European Union over new competition rules under the Digital Markets Act. Likewise, Mark Zuckerberg's Meta is also in a stalemate with EU lawmakers, blocking its AI features from rolling out across WhatsApp, Instagram, and Facebook in the coming months.

Those same features will start to trickle out to Instagram and Messenger in the coming weeks, Meta confirmed.
The suite of tools from Samsung and Apple include AI-powered features to help with writing and editing text, image editing and generation, as well as recording, transcribing and summarising calls and audio.

Smartphone makers have started introducing the features in response to the generative AI boom sparked by the launch of ChatGPT in late 2022. Award-winning Android brand Nothing, which is based in the UK, decided not to debut its own competitor, but instead has baked-in ChatGPT into its earbuds and budget-friendly phones.
