EE TV customers can stream over 3,000 hours of coverage from the Summer Olympic Games in Paris on discovery+ without paying a penny more. The Opening Ceremony starts from 6.30pm, with 10,500 athletes due to travel a six-kilometre route on boats along the River Seine through the French capital city.
You'll be able to watch all of the action from Paris 2024 on the EE TV Box Pro and EE TV Box Mini, which both launched last year as part of a dramatic overhaul to the EE TV service that included a custom-designed remote control for the Apple TV set-top box and a rebrand for all BT TV viewers via an overnight software update.

A basic subscription to discovery+ starts from £3.99 per month, although you'll need the Standard subscription (£6.99) to be able to access Eurosport 1 & 2, cycling, tennis, snooker, motorsports, and the Olympic Games.
Reporting from WBD House, a perfectly positioned Parisian rooftop studio on top of the Hotel Raphael, Eurosport’s coverage promises to deliver the most immersive Olympics across discovery+, the only place to watch every moment of the Games live

Live coverage of the Summer Olympic and Paralympic Games from discovery+ is also available on rival boxes from Sky TV and Virgin Media, although you'll need to subscribe separately. If you have a subscription to Sky with TNT Sports added to your account, you'll be able to watch discovery+ content at no extra cost.
With the free upgrade coming to all EE TV viewers, you'll be able to tune in to over 3,800 hours of live coverage across 55 live feeds from events across 19 days of the competition. discovery+ has added several features to enhance the experience of watching the Olympic Games, including in-player timeline markers that highlight key moments in the events — so you can jump straight to a point in time and never miss a moment that matters.
discovery+ will also have "gold medal alerts" that notify you when something unmissable has happened. Tapping on the notification will send you directly to the exact moment to watch it all unfold.
You won't be restricted to watching on EE TV Box Pro and EE TV Box Mini either, with the free upgrade also working across the full range of discovery+ apps, including iPhone and Android.
BBC has acquired the rights to more than 250 hours of live coverage of the Olympics, which will be broadcast across BBC One and BBC Two. Events will also be streamed on BBC iPlayer.
However, only Eurosport has the rights to the entirety of the Paris 2024 Olympic Games. You'll be able to tune in via Eurosport 1 and Eurosport 2 on a number of pay-TV boxes, like Virgin TV 360, Sky Stream, Sky Glass, and Sky Q, provided you have the correct bundle of sports channels.
Of course, anyone with a discovery+ Standard subscription for £6.99 per month can stream across any of its applications, including across Smart TVs, set-top boxes like the EE TV Box Pro, and mobile devices.
The giveaway from EE comes just a few days after EE added support for YouTube across its redesigned set-top boxes, unlocking access to YouTube Primetime Channels for the first time. YouTube joins the ranks of other popular streamers built into the new EE TV boxes, including Netflix, Prime Video, NOW, and Apple TV+. EE has spoken about its desire to add support for Disney+ soon.
Multi-room viewing comes as standard with all EE TV bundles. That's a clear differentiator between the phone operator's solution and Sky TV, which charges £12 per month for its Whole Home add-on to watch live and on-demand shows in multiple rooms.
Like Sky Stream and Sky Glass, not to mention Virgin Media's Stream box, EE will let you switch between the bundle of channels available on your box every month. That means you won't be locked into the same subscription for two years. It also means you can unlock Sky Cinema channels during the summer blockbuster season, before switching to Sky Sports when the Premier League restarts.
