The US Open blows its Grand Slam rivals out of the water with its prize money on offer

The 2025 US Open has established a new benchmark in tennis history with its unprecedented £67.3 million total prize fund, marking a 20 per cent surge from the previous year's £56 million pool.

Each singles champion at Flushing Meadows will receive £3.74 million, representing a substantial 39 per cent increase from the £2.84 million awarded to last year's winners.

This year's tournament significantly outpaces the other Grand Slam events in terms of financial rewards.

Wimbledon distributed £53.5 million in 2025, whilst the French Open offered £49 million and the Australian Open provided £47 million to competitors across all categories.

Sunday's highly anticipated men's final will see defending champion Jannik Sinner face Carlos Alcaraz, with both the title and the world's top ranking at stake.

The Italian seeks to retain his crown at the New York venue whilst pursuing his fifth Grand Slam trophy.

His Spanish opponent aims to secure his sixth major title and his second triumph at Flushing Meadows, having previously won the tournament in 2022 at just 19 years of age.

The match represents the newest instalment in what has become one of tennis's most thrilling rivalries.

Beyond the prestigious title and the £3.74 million winner's cheque, the victor will also claim the number one position in the global rankings.

Saturday's women's championship match pits defending titleholder Aryna Sabalenka against American Amanda Anisimova in what promises to be a compelling encounter.

Anisimova's path to the final included a notable quarter-final victory over Iga Swiatek, gaining retribution after the Polish player had comprehensively defeated her at Wimbledon earlier this year.

The American's triumph ended Swiatek's hopes of claiming the £3.74 million top prize.

Sabalenka, who collected £2.84 million for her 2024 victory, enters the match as the pre-tournament betting favourite.

The tournament's financial structure ensures substantial rewards throughout the competition.

Players reaching the semi-finals are guaranteed £943,000, whilst quarter-finalists receive £494,000.

Even early-round participants benefit significantly from the enhanced prize fund.

Those eliminated in the fourth round collect £299,000, with third-round exits earning £177,000. Second-round departures receive £115,000, and first-round losses still yield £82,000.

The runner-up in both singles competitions will claim £1.87 million.

Doubles champions share £750,000 between partners, whilst the newly introduced mixed doubles championship awarded Sara Errani and Andrea Vavassori £736,880 for their victory over Casper Ruud and Iga Swiatek.

The wheelchair competitions will distribute £1.2 million amongst participants across various categories.
