The British tennis star is now through to the quarter-finals of the Grand Slam

Cam Norrie has opened up after a spat with Nicolas Jarry at the end of their dramatic Wimbledon match on Sunday.

The Briton booked his place in the quarter-finals of the tournament with a 6-3, 7-6, 6-7, 6-7, 6-3 victory at the All England Club.

At the end of the match, Jarry was seen having a tense exchange with Norrie.

Earlier in the showdown, the Chilean had argued with the umpire - insisting that Norrie was taking too long to serve the ball.

Norrie was asked about what they were discussing following his victory. However, the 29-year-old didn't go into too much detail - and instead chose to thank the Chilean fans in attendance.

"I think credit to Nico, he did an unbelievable job staying with me, he played better than me in both tie-breaks and deserved it," he said.

"I didn't want to let his game-style get to me, I kept fighting and honestly I forgot to get my coach a birthday present, it's his birthday today.

"I had to get him something, so I got him a win.

"He [Jarry] said I was a little bit vocal, that's my energy and I was pulling for my team.

"I just said 'man, you competed so well, it was an amazing competitive match', I loved the Chilean fans, and you guys (the fans) pulled me through too."

The Briton also proceeded to admit that he was delighted with his turnaround in form, having struggled at the start of the year.

"Honestly amazing," he added. "At the beginning of the year I was struggling with confidence, had some doubts and wanted to enjoy my tennis a bit more, I enjoyed today.

"It's a bonus to win, but I was happy I was enjoying."

Earlier in the contest, Jarry cut a furious figure when he moaned about Norrie's serving.

"What is the rule there? The problem is, is it normal to do that when it affects the other player?" Jarry was heard saying to Greek umpire Eva Asderaki-Moore.

"You have to intervene there or I have to suck it. That's the real issue, it doesn't matter the reason. It is the same as hitting the ball anywhere.

"It's not intentional but you have to apply the code as well. How is it now? He perfectly can stop doing it, it's not a nervous tick.

"It's something that he can control. It's not a nervous tick.

"You think there's nothing I can do so I just have to suck it up, because he does it always.

"That's a reason for me to have to play with something that affects me. It can be changed, it's not something that cannot be changed."

However, Asderaki-Moore was blunt in his response.

"I am going to step in if I think there is a reason to step in," he replied.
