The two teams will do battle on Friday

Marcus Smith will line up at full-back when the British & Irish Lions take on Argentina at Dublin's Aviva Stadium on Friday evening.

The England international maintains his position in the back-field following his switch from fly-half during the Six Nations.

Head coach Andy Farrell has selected nine English players in his starting XV for the pre-tour match.

Northampton's Fin Smith takes the number 10 jersey, with club colleagues Tommy Freeman and Alex Mitchell starting on the wing and at scrum-half respectively.

Pollock is amongst 14 players set to make their Lions debut in the Argentina fixture. His selection represents an extraordinary trajectory for the young player, who has emerged as one of English rugby's most exciting prospects this season.

The youngster's rapid progression from club rugby to potential Lions debutant underscores the impact he has made at Northampton, catching Farrell's attention during the selection process.

Maro Itoje will lead the Lions out for the first time in his career, marking a significant milestone for the England lock.

The head coach added: "Maro has led the group well during our time in Portugal and then Dublin this week. This is also our first opportunity to show what the 2025 Lions are about and what we want to stand for as a team."
