Randi Mahomes, mother of Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes, has entered the debate surrounding transgender athletes competing in women's sports, declaring such competition unfair.
Speaking on the MOMetize Your Passion podcast with host Tirralan Watkin, Mahomes addressed the contentious issue that has divided American sport.
She told the podcast: "As a female, I think that it's not a fair matchup."
The mother of three, including a teenage daughter, emphasised her concerns about genetic advantages whilst insisting she was not attempting to stigmatise transgender individuals.

"Personally, from being a woman and a girl and doing co-ed teams throughout my life and just having fun in sports there is a huge difference between male and female," she added.
"I love everyone, but when it comes to physical strength and just our DNA, I don't think it's fair because I do have a daughter, and I do have a son.
"As you develop, there is a difference."

Mahomes maintained that DNA differences create an inherent disparity between biological males and females in sporting competitions.
The mum of three has previously demonstrated her political leanings, wearing a 'Make America Great Again' hat in November whilst expressing support for Donald Trump's presidential campaign.
Her political engagement extends beyond domestic American politics to international sporting controversies.

During the Paris Olympics, she publicly backed Italian boxer Angela Carini following her defeat by Algeria's Imane Khelif, who faced scrutiny over gender eligibility.
Mrs Mahomes reposted a message declaring: "This is Angela Carini. We say HER name. This is the woman boxer who was failed by the world.
"She isn't crying because she lost. Boxers don't cry. She is crying due to the horrible unfairness of it all. I cry with her. #IStandWithAngelaCarini."

Mrs Mahomes proposed creating separate leagues for transgender athletes as a potential solution to ensure competitive fairness.
She suggested: "I just think maybe they create a league that everyone that's transgender could go to and have a fair game or activity."
Despite her firm stance on competitive separation, she reiterated her inclusive philosophy.
"I just think that women really need to be with women, and men need to be with men. I think that makes it fair. That is just my personal beliefs," she concluded.
Her son Patrick has avoided public political discourse, though his wife Brittany has previously indicated support for Trump on social media.
