Swifties straight away realised that Kelce had made the references

Jason Kelce dropped subtle nods to his brother's girlfriend Taylor Swift when announcing he was retiring from the NFL on Monday.

The 36-year-old has called time on his 13-year career with the Philadelphia Eagles and made an emotional statement to the media.

Kelce, who won Super Bowl LII with the Eagles in 2017, played 193 times in the NFL and is regarded as one of the greatest centres in the league's history.

He spoke in length about his career on Monday and revealed his gratitude for people who played a part in his journey, including his brother.

But despite tearing up at regular times throughout his speech, he still had time to make reference to singing sensation Swift, who has dated Travis for at least the last six months.

Kelce first mentioned one of Swift's songs, All Too Well, saying: "I found my career being fulfilled in the City of Brotherly Love. I knew that relationship all too well..."

He later said another of her songs, Wildest Dreams, saying: "If you go above and beyond for this city, you will be rewarded above your wildest dreams."

Fans on social media straight away realised that Kelce had made the two references.

One fan wrote on X: "Jason Kelce retiring from the NFL after 13 seasons and dropping 'All Too Well' and 'Wildest Dreams' in his retirement speech is so swiftie coded."

A second posted: "So far, Jason Kelce has said 'All Too Well' and 'Wildest Dreams' in his retirement speech. I'm never, ever going to shut up about that."

A third wrote: "Jason Kelce has mentioned wildest dreams and all too well or am I trippin."

A fourth put: "Not Jason Kelce adding 'all too well' and 'wildest dreams' to his retirement speech he loves us."

There had been rumours that Kelce was going to retire and after getting through much of his statement, he eventually revealed that was the case.

He said: "So this all brings us here to today where I announce that I’m retiring.

"Where I announce that I’m retiring from the NFL after 13 seasons with the Philadelphia Eagles.

"Today, I must admit, I am officially overrated. Vastly overrated, but f***. It took a lot of hard work and determination getting here.

"I have been the underdog my entire career, and I mean this when I say it, I wish I still was. Few things gave me more joy than proving someone wrong.

"My mother used to tell people when still says to this day, if you want Jason to do something, all you have to do is tell him you can't. And that was true in more ways than I care to admit."

His brother Travis won his third Super Bowl with the Kansas City Chiefs last month.

Travis is two years younger but Jason says he could not have achieved what he did without him.
