The Briton was unable to complete the race in Sin City

Lando Norris has been taken to hospital as a precaution after his crash at the F1 Las Vegas Grand Prix on Sunday morning.

The Briton had gone into the race hoping to turn his fortunes around, having started 15th on the grid.

Yet Norris was an early retirement from the race in Sin City after crashing into a wall.

The McLaren star lost control of his car at turn 12, with his vehicle losing a tyre before spinning into the barrier.

Norris immediately told his team he was 'OK' over the radio, though was breathing heavily.

And Sky Sports say the 24-year-old has now been taken to hospital to be checked out as a precaution.

Max Verstappen would later proceed to win the race in Vegas, with Red Bull making history in the process.

They have now secured more successes in a single campaign than any other team over the years.

Verstappen had previously been hit with a penalty after forcing Charles Leclerc off the track - but is now celebrating yet another triumph.

Norris complained about a lack of grip during the race.

And that's something several drivers have noticed during the race in Vegas, which is the first of it;s kind.

Speaking before the race, Norris admitted qualifying had been a 'reality check' for Mclaren.

When asked how he was feeling after his Q1 elimination, Norris responded: “Not great because I got knocked out!

"But yeah, the pace of the car was where we are to be honest.

"It’s where we’ve been all weekend.

“We’ve been a long way off the pace, but I’d say where we expected to be, honestly.

"It’s been a tough weekend, just the car’s not been performing where we’ve been the last few weeks of course, so I guess that’s disappointing.

"But at the same time, since our first few laps we knew we were not going to be very quick.

“In a way I’d say – not that I’d say it’s a great thing – but it’s a good thing that it’s kept us… a bit of a reality check, I’d say.

"I’d rather have that this year than next year, if that makes sense.

"Not what we wanted but it’s kind of what we were expecting.”

Analysing Norris' crash, meanwhile, Sky Sports pundit Martin Brundle said: "Lando lost the back end of the car very early doors. The car nearly took out his team-mate.

"It started way up the track when the car just snapped sideways.
