Tiger Woods has reportedly been spotted limping as the 48-year-old prepares to play at The Open later this week.

The golf icon will be hoping to win a first major since securing glory at the Masters back in 2019, having started to get some momentum once again amid years of injury issues.

Woods has managed to play in all three majors so far this year. He finished 60th at the Masters before proceeding to miss the cut at both the PGA Championship and US Open.

But his overall performance bodes well for the weekend. He nearly pulled off a hole-in-one, with an effort rolling to within just three feet of the flag.

Golf fans are hopeful Woods will be able to pull off an unlikely triumph this weekend.

Five back surgeries and four surgeries on his knee have prevented the golf legend from scaling the heights of old.

Woods has indicated he won't play another tournament once The Open is out of the way.

Speaking at Pinehurst last month, he said: “I’ve only got one more tournament this season – I don’t think even if I win the British Open I don’t think I’ll be in the [PGA Tour] play-offs.

"Just one more event and then I’ll come back whenever I come back.”

"There is a time for all sportsmen to say goodbye, but it's very difficult to tell Tiger it's time to go.

"Obviously, he still feels he can win. We are more realistic.

The 84-year-old won a staggering 18 during his playing days between 1962 and 1986, with three of those triumphs coming at The Open.

Woods is second with 15 which is four more than Walter Hagen, who wrote his name into the history books between 1914 and 1929.
