Tottenham beat Manchester United in the Europa League final last month to earn the bragging rights

Tottenham have launched a new merchandise range that turns Sir Alex Ferguson's famous "Lads, it's Tottenham" jibe into a celebration of their Europa League triumph over Manchester United.

The club's official shop is now selling hoodies and t-shirts emblazoned with the phrase that Ferguson apparently used in 2001, which has long been used by rival fans to mock Spurs.

Following their 1-0 victory in last month's all-English final in Bilbao, Tottenham have embraced the historic taunt as part of their "Europa League winners 2025" clothing line.

The merchandise range marks the club's first major trophy in 17 years.

The phrase originated during a match between the two clubs in 2001, when United trailed 3-0 at half-time before mounting a remarkable comeback to win 5-3.

According to former United captain Roy Keane, Ferguson used the four-word comment in the dressing room to remind his players of Tottenham's fragility.

The jibe has endured for over two decades, with rival supporters frequently using it to taunt Spurs fans during their lengthy trophy drought.

Paul Scholes, who played in that famous 5-3 victory, felt the phrase was disrespectful to Tottenham, saying recently: "I think it's a bit derogatory to speak about such a great football club like that."

The navy adult hoodie featuring the embroidered phrase is priced at £55, whilst a t-shirt version costs £30 in the club's official shop.

The full merchandise collection includes caps, magazines, programmes, photos, scarves and footballs celebrating the Europa League victory.

Fan reactions on social media have been mixed, with one supporter account writing: "Lad's its Tottenham", THIS IS BRILLIANT,' whilst another expressed surprise: "No way have the club released "lads it's Tottenham t-shirts on the official website."

A third fan suggested: "The "lads it's Tottenham" text is too small, if the club's gonna use it they gotta use it with confidence and zero shame."

The merchandise release comes after Tottenham defeated United in the Europa League final, with Ferguson watching from the stands alongside United co-owner Jim Ratcliffe and Avram Glazer.

Supporters noted the 83-year-old appeared dismayed following the defeat, which compounded a miserable season for United as they finished 15th in the Premier League.

The victory secured Tottenham's qualification for next season's Champions League, though Thomas Frank will lead the campaign following Ange Postecoglou's dismissal earlier this month.

The triumph also marked Tottenham's fourth consecutive victory over United last season, leaving the Red Devils facing a campaign without European football after their woeful year.
