Roy Keane has blasted Manchester United and says he's 'given up' with his former club amid their nightmare season under Erik ten Hag.

The fallen giants have picked up just eight points from seven matches so far to sit 14th in the Premier League table.

There hasn't been much respite for United in Europe, either, with the club drawing Europa League matches with FC Twente and Porto so far.

Keane established himself as a legend at Old Trafford during his playing days, when the club were managed by Sir Alex Ferguson.

Now, speaking on the Stick to Football podcast, he has fumed at their lacklustre performances and says he's 'given up' with them.

"I think it was after the Twente game when players came out saying that they wanted it more, I gave up at that stage," he fumed.

"If that is the noise coming out of the dressing room, then no wonder the manager is in trouble and no wonder they are not going to win football matches.

"But that is where Man United are, it is hit and miss. They are going to win matches, but they will lose plenty.

"I am not sure there is a team there. I would love to know what goes on in the training ground.

"Who is pushing each other? Who is helping the younger players? Are the senior players proper?

"You can't keep going back to Harry Maguire and Eriksen. They said they need recruitment, they made lots of changes.

"They got rid of Fred and [Scott] McTominay, they make changes.

"But now they have gone back to Maguire and Eriksen for the last few weeks.

"They were part of the problem. I am not just saying on their own, so if you think Maguire is the answer?"

United's summer signings have struggled so far, with Matthijs de Ligt toiling following his arrival from Bayern Munich.

Keane feels they need some time to adapt, however, and continued his blistering attack by saying: "The new lads need a chance, to play a couple of months and games to build relationships. The manager is stubborn, and he has to be a manager.

"To be United was always about being good people and characters and people who could play for the club.

"But I don't see that now; I don't recognise the club. A couple of months ago, new people came in, and they thought they would have the answers.

"But they have gone backwards. When we discuss Man United it is more like a business than a football club.

"A football club is about people and good people who turn up and put a shift in.

"What I see at Man United after stepping back a bit I am not sure I am seeing proper footballing people.

"It is more a business having board meetings, why can't they have these meeting without anybody knowing about it.

"You can't tell me they can't find a nice little hotel in the Lakes or something, I'm serious.

"We know all this information; why is it public knowledge?"
