Real Madrid star Kylian Mbappe has shocked fans after reportedly losing an alarming five kilograms following an illness last week that left him in hospital.
The French forward was admitted to hospital last week with acute gastroenteritis, believed to have been contracted the days prior to flying out to the United States, and was discharged the following day.
Mbappe has since returned to individual training, after having to isolate from the squad to avoid spreading the illness, but is now looking to join back up with the team.
Spanish sports news outlet Marca has reported that the star has lost up to five kilograms from the illness.

The 26-year-old has been left out of Madrid’s game against Red Bull Salzburg on Friday as a result of his recovery and absence from training.
New Real Madrid boss Xabi Alonso, who Mbappe is yet to play under, commented on his availability.
He said: “We talked after training. He’s progressing, but not quite there yet. Hopefully, we can count on him if we reach the next stage.”

Fans were quick to social media to express their concerns for the star, however.
One fan said: “Maybe he needs to rest a little more.”
Another commented: “Quick recovery.”

A third added: “I wish he will be fit before our next game, we really miss him.”
And a fourth weighed in by saying: "He really needs to rest."
Mbappe has not played for Real Madrid since their final La Liga game against Real Sociedad last month, where he scored a brace.
Despite failing to secure any silverware in his maiden campaign at Los Blancos, Mbappe has endured a terrific first campaign.

After a slow start, the Frenchman eventually bagged a whopping 43 goals in all competitions, with the La Liga giants falling short in the league to a reformed Barcelona side.
They do have a real chance at silverware at the Club World Cup though, under new boss Alonso.
Los Blancos got off to a stuttering start, drawing 1-1 against impressive Saudi Arabian outfit Al Hilal in their opening game.
However, despite being down to ten men for the majority of the game, Madrid beat Pachuca 3-1 in their second match, after goals from Jude Bellingham, Arda Guler and Federico Valverde.
Their final match is against Salzburg on Friday, with Mbappe hoping to make a return to the squad for the knockout rounds.
