Marcus Rashford looks set to join Barcelona on loan in the coming days

Former Manchester United midfielder Paul Pogba has expressed bewilderment at his old club's decision to allow Marcus Rashford to depart for Barcelona on loan.

The Frenchman, now with AS Monaco, described the situation as "crazy" whilst speaking to YouTube personality IShowSpeed during a beIN Sports interview.

"Manchester United are losing a great player. Unlucky for them," Pogba stated, voicing support for his former teammate.

The World Cup winner appeared particularly perturbed that the club had reassigned Rashford's iconic number 10 shirt, saying he was "happy for him because they took his number."

Pogba praised the move as "great for Barcelona" whilst questioning United's handling of the 27-year-old forward.

The England international is poised to finalise a season-long loan arrangement with the Catalan giants, who have agreed to shoulder his entire £315,000-per-week salary burden.

The agreement incorporates a purchase option for next summer, reportedly valued around £30million.

Rashford touched down in Catalonia and is scheduled to complete medical examinations on Monday before the transfer's formal completion.

Spanish reports indicate an official presentation is planned for Wednesday, with the forward potentially joining Barcelona's pre-season tour to Asia on Thursday.

The financial commitment from Barcelona demonstrates their eagerness to secure Rashford's services despite their well-documented economic constraints.

Pogba offered a measured defence of manager Ruben Amorim's role in the saga, suggesting the Portuguese coach faces inevitable pressures at Old Trafford.

"It's not really his fault. If he doesn't believe in someone. He needs to win. If he doesn't win they're going to sack him," the midfielder explained.

The former United star acknowledged that Amorim must make difficult decisions to achieve results, noting that the manager "wants to do his thing" with new signings arriving at the club.

Pogba's comments highlight the unforgiving nature of the United hot seat, where managers must deliver immediate success or face dismissal.

Rashford's marginalisation at United began under Erik ten Hag before deteriorating further following Amorim's appointment.

The forward spent January to May on loan at Aston Villa, where he netted four goals and contributed six assists across 17 appearances.
