The 52-year-old resigned as Ajax's chief executive officer in May, sharing his decision followed on from an "incredibly tough period".
He said: "We have experienced wonderful things together but it has also been an incredibly tough period."
Van der Sar, who won 130 caps with the Dutch national side, was appointed to the post in 2016.
But Ajax missed out on winning a fourth consecutive Eredivise trophy with rivals Feyenoord pipping the Amsterdam club to the title.

Van der Sar's career at Old Trafford ended in 2011, having joined Manchester United from Fulham in 2005.
He helped Sir Alex Ferguson's side win the Champions League final against Chelsea in 2008, saving Nicholas Anelka's spot kick in the penalty shoot-out.
Van der Sar has been married to his wife Annemarie van Kesteren since 2006 and the couple have two children.
His wife suffered from a brain haemorrhage three years later and Sir Alex gave his first-choice goalkeeper compassionate leave.
Annemarie went on to make a full recovery.
