The British billionaire is making his mark since his investment into Manchester United

Manchester United boss Erik ten Hag could be in line for an awkward reunion with Jadon Sancho if Sir Jim Ratcliffe gets his way.

Ratcliffe is hoping to appoint Jason Wilcox as his new technical director, a person who knows the ousted winger very well.

Sancho rejoined Borussia Dortmund on loan from United in January after being frozen out by Ten Hag earlier this season.

Ten Hag left the 24-year-old out of his squad for a match at Arsenal, claiming he didn't show the level required in training the previous week.

Sancho reacted with a statement of his own, saying he was fed up of being used as a scapegoat.

Ten Hag then refused to pick the England international, who was not even allowed to train or eat with his club team-mates.

Sancho was told he needed to say sorry to his manager before being reconsidered for selection but an apology didn't come.

After a slow start at Dortmund, Sancho has started to show glimpses of the form that saw United splash out £73million on him in 2021.

His future at Old Trafford looks bleak for as long as Ten Hag is in charge.

However, the potential appointment of Wilcox could throw a spanner in the works this summer.

United have approached Southampton about luring their director of football to the club to take up a technical director role.

Saints are not happy with the timing of the Red Devils' approach and want more money than has been offered.

United are said to have put a year's salary on the table and believe that is enough.

Wilcox wants the move and has offered to resign but would have to see out a year's notice period if an agreement cannot be reached between the two clubs.

If United do get their hands on Wilcox, then it could spell good news for Sancho.

Wilcox used to be an academy coach at Manchester City before later becoming academy director.

He was at the Etihad when Sancho was at City and he handed him his youth team debut at the age of 15.

Sancho scored twice in that match and Wilcox was full of praise for his performance afterwards.

He said: "For a young kid playing his first Under-18s football match, I thought he was sensational.

"I'm really looking forward to working with him because he's a talented boy who works really hard."

Wilcox may push for Sancho to be given a second chance at United this summer.

Ten Hag may have to put up with it, knowing that his own future is not set in stone.

Whether Sancho wants to play under the Dutchman again remains to be seen.
