Louis van Gaal has provided an encouraging update on his health following his battle with aggressive prostate cancer.

The 73-year-old former Manchester United and Netherlands manager revealed he is feeling well after extensive treatment and that he's now cancer free.


"I'm no longer bothered by cancer," said Van Gaal. "Two years ago, I had a few surgeries. It was all bad then. But it all worked out in the end, so I can manage it now."

The Dutch coach confirmed he continues to have regular medical checkups every few months, with all results showing positive outcomes.

His candid remarks come after he was diagnosed with the aggressive form of prostate cancer in early 2022.

Van Gaal underwent multiple surgeries as part of his cancer treatment, which initially proved challenging. The treatment programme included 25 sessions of radiotherapy.

The diagnosis came at a particularly significant time in his career, as he was managing the Netherlands national team.

Van Gaal's illustrious coaching career spans several decades and includes stints at some of football's most prestigious clubs.
