The Merseyside team have spent big this window but they expect to sell some high-value assets

Liverpool could be set to recoup a whopping £75million from the sale of two fringe players in the coming weeks.

The Merseyside club have been comfortably the most active team in the transfer market so far - and have not been afraid to splash the cash.

The Reds announced the signing of Jeremie Frimpong from Bundesliga side Bayer Leverkusen last month for a fee of £30million, replacing the Real Madrid-bound Trent Alexander-Arnold at right-back.

Following Frimpong through the door at Anfield was former Leverkusen teammate Florian Wirtz for a Premier League record fee of £116.5million.

Bournemouth’s Milos Kerkez is set to be their third addition of the window for a fee of £40million, while the Reds have accelerated their talks with Crystal Palace defender Marc Guehi.

However, Liverpool have not only been busy with incomings this summer.

Joining Alexander-Arnold out the door will be Jarell Quansah, with the 22-year-old set to join Erik Ten Hag at Bayer Leverkusen for a fee of £35million.

Quansah, who made just 13 Premier League appearances last season, will sign a five-year deal in the Bundesliga, while Liverpool will have a buy-back option in the deal.

Additionally, Harvey Elliot has been in talks with Brighton ahead of a reported £40million move.

The 22-year-old made his feelings clear recently when discussing his current position in the squad.

"It's just a situation that me and the team have to have a conversation about because I'm coming into an age now where I'm 22, I'm going to be 23 next season," Elliott said while on international duty with England Under-21s.

"I don't really want to be wasting years on my career because it's a short career. You don't know what's going to happen."

Since joining on a free transfer from Fulham in 2019, Elliott has made 147 senior appearances for the Reds, but feels as though his time may be up at the club.

With just those two departures, Liverpool could be cashing in around £75million in what appears to be a genius transfer strategy.

This should leave their net spend, following the inevitable arrival of Kerkez, at just over £100million.

After breaking the Premier League transfer record and bringing in two new full-backs, it represents excellent value for money.

Quansah and Elliott are not the only players that could leave Anfield this summer, however.

Andy Robertson has been subject to interest from Conor Gallagher’s Atletico Madrid, although talks are not yet advanced.

Cody Gakpo is high on the list for Bayern Munich, who seem to have lost out on Athletic Bilbao’s Nico Williams to Barcelona.

Kostas Tsimikas has also had interest from Nottingham Forest.

Liverpool boss Arne Slot has clearly seen his as a window of opportunity for the club and is a stark contrast to recent transfer windows.

Last year, Slot’s first year as Liverpool boss, the Reds added just Federico Chiesa to their squad at the cost of £10million - the Italian made just six Premier League appearances and is also looking for a route away from Anfield this summer.

With Virgil van Dijk and Mo Salah extending their stay at the club and making some high-profile additions, Liverpool will undoubtedly be challenging at the summit of the table once more next year.
