The accident occurred in the early hours of Thursday morning, claiming the lives of both Jota and his brother Andre. The tragedy struck just two weeks after the footballer's wedding to his childhood sweetheart Rute Cardoso.
Jota joined Liverpool from Wolverhampton Wanderers in 2020 and quickly established himself as a key player at Anfield. During his time with the Reds, he made 182 appearances, scoring 65 goals and providing 26 assists.
His trophy cabinet included last season's Premier League title, an FA Cup triumph, and two League Cup victories.

The forward's contributions extended beyond statistics. His work rate and tactical intelligence made him invaluable to Liverpool's system under multiple managers.
Mohamed Salah expressed his devastation at losing his team-mate.
"I am truly lost for words. Until yesterday, I never thought there would be something that would frighten me of going back to Liverpool after the break," Salah wrote on social media.
He continued: "Team-mates come and go but not like this. It's going to be extremely difficult to accept that Diogo won't be there when we go back.
"My thoughts are with his wife, his children, and of course his parents who suddenly lost their children. Those close to Diogo and his brother Andre need all the support they can get. They will never be forgotten."
Liverpool manager Arne Slot offered heartfelt words in a statement on the club's website.
"What to say? What can anyone say at a time like this when the shock and the pain is so incredibly raw?" Slot began. "I wish I had the words but I know I do not.
