The Dutchwoman has opened up ahead of Sunday's blockbuster final in Basel

Lionesses boss Sarina Wiegman has admitted she sometimes feels as though she's having a 'heart attack' as England prepare to face Spain in the final of Euro 2025 on Sunday.

The team will go into the crunch clash in Basel hoping to get revenge on Spain, who beat them in the final of the Women's World Cup two years ago.

The Lionesses' route to the final has been far from straightforward, however.

After falling 2-0 down to Sweden in the last eight, they eventually got the job done via a dramatic penalty shootout.

Lionesses boss Sarina Wiegman has admitted she sometimes feels as though she's having a 'heart attack' as England prepare to face Spain in the final of Euro 2025 on Sunday

On Tuesday night, England were a goal behind against Italy before goals from Michelle Agyemang and Chloe Kelly struck to turn the goal around.

And Wiegman, speaking at a press conference, has admitted she's suffered with nerves - despite maintaing her composure on the touchline.

"I'm having a heart attack too, I just don't show it," she admitted.

"We want to be best prepared. We try to prepare on what can happen in the game and what we need. That is how the squad is built.

"We figured out what we need if need to change things. We have spoken through all the scenarios but during the game it's what you think is necessary.

"When we want to change, we can do it."

England go into the contest as the defending champions.

But Wiegman, when asked if there's less pressure compared to their last Euros win three years ago, insists that isn't the case.

She continued: "I think every tournament you want to perform.

"Going into the finals is already very special and there are only two teams that can do it.

"It's very special. You want to win a final and we will do everything to make it happen."

"We've played each other a lot over the last couple of years because of the Nation's League. We will have learned from them in the games we have played. Tomorrow is a different scenario but hopefully we can look at the strengths."

Meanwhile, England captain Leah Williamson also opened up.

She admits that Euro 2022 was a unique experience but is eager to add another trophy to the Lionesses' collection as they look to make history by winning the tournament back-to-back.

"The beautiful thing about 2022 was that I'm not sure any of us will ever be a part of something like that again in terms of the change, the story and journey," she said.

"Being away form home is special in a different way. You go out to represent your country somewhere else and the weight of that is important to consider. It sometimes adds a little extra.
