CBS Sports presenter Kate Abdo surprised her co-hosts on Tuesday night by announcing a major change to her name during the Champions League coverage.
The 43-year-old revealed she had taken her new husband's surname following her recent marriage to boxing trainer Malik Scott.
"Yes, with my new husband! Allow me to reintroduce myself. Last name, Abdo. It has to go. We're going to do this. S-C-O-T-T. Kate Scott," Abdo declared on air.
The announcement caught fellow presenters Jamie Carragher, Thierry Henry, and Micah Richards off guard, with the trio gasping before offering their congratulations.
Carragher's reaction to Abdo's announcement was particularly noteworthy, given his previous controversial comment about her loyalty.
In March, Carragher landed in hot water with CBS Sports after making a joke about Abdo's relationship with Scott.

When Abdo mentioned being "too loyal" to Manchester United to wear an Arsenal shirt, Carragher quipped: "Not to Malik."
This led to an awkward moment on set and prompted Scott to threaten to "show up in a physical manner" if Carragher overstepped again.
Despite the past tension, Carragher joined in the congratulations, though he couldn't resist another joke, asking: "Malik's not here, is he?"

Abdo's marriage to Malik Scott took place earlier this month in an intimate ceremony.
The couple's relationship had previously been thrust into the spotlight due to Carragher's ill-judged comment.
However, Scott has since told Genting Casino that all three of Abdo's colleagues wished them well after the wedding.

The name change announcement was met with enthusiasm from the panel. Micah Richards crossed the studio to give Scott a hug, saying, "It's a great moment Kate, bring it in."
