Spurs ran out comfortable winners on Saturday afternoon

Tottenham thumped West Ham 4-1 on Saturday afternoon to claim derby bragging rights and increase the pressure on Julen Lopetegui.

The Hammers took the lead against the run of play, with Mohammed Kudus putting the visitors ahead in the 18th minute.

However, Tottenham levelled through Dejan Kulusevski before the end of the first half and, from that moment on, there was only ever going to be one winner.

Yves Bissouma and Son Heung-min scored either side of an own goal from Alphonse Areola as Ange Postecoglou's side bounced back following their defeat to Brighton before the international break. GB News now takes a look at four talking points from the game.

Lopetegui's job seems to be at risk

West Ham decided to part ways with David Moyes back in the summer and, after considering Ruben Amorim, decided to hire Lopetegui instead.

The Spaniard's reign has been a disaster so far, however, and there's nothing to suggest that he's capable of turning things around.

Some fans on social media have called for Lopetegui to go. With just two victories from eight Premier League games, he's certainly fighting to keep his head above water.

West Ham are a club in crisis and it wouldn't be a surprise if Lopetegui is axed in the near future, especially given the underwhelming nature of their performances.

Perfect response for Tottenham

Postecoglou has found himself facing plenty of scrutiny so far this season.

Certainly, Saturday threatened to be a difficult day at the office when Kudus put West Ham ahead in the first half.

Yet Postecoglou will be pleased with how well Tottenham performed. They refused to let their heads drop after falling behind and instead produced the perfect response by scoring four times.

It could even have been more. If they play like this on a regular basis then a return to the Champions League could be on the cards.

Maddison decision pays off

Many were shocked at half time when Tottenham decided to hook James Maddison.

The England international had struggled to make an impact during the first half and was consequently replaced by Pape Matar Sarr.

It was a bold decision given Maddison's quality but one that paid off, with Tottenham significantly improved after the interval.

Postecoglou will no doubt be relieved that his gamble didn't backfire.

Tottenham have missed Son

Tottenham had to cope without Son prior to the international break after the South Korea international picked up an injury.

And it was clear just how much the former Bayer Leverkusen star was missed as Spurs cruised to victory on home soil.

Fans inside the ground gave the winger a standing ovation when he came off on the 70th minute.

If Tottenham are to quality for the Champions League and win a trophy this season they'll need to keep their talisman fit. They're a far better side with him, rather than without.
