Gary Lineker revealed he was frustrated with the Match of the Day running order on Saturday after Leicester's stirring 3-2 win over Southampton wasn't shown first.

The Foxes found themselves 2-0 down after early goals from Cameron Archer and Joe Aribo.

Yet Leicester were far better after the break, with goals from Facundo Buonanotte, Jamie Vardy and Jordan Ayew securing all three points.

The match wasn't shown first on Match of the Day on Saturday, however.

Instead, BBC chiefs decided to go with Bournemouth's shock 2-0 victory over Arsenal at the Vitality Stadium.

Leicester were then shown second, with Tottenham's emphatic 4-1 victory over West Ham third.

And Lineker, speaking on the show, admitted he was baffled that the Foxes' victory had been overlooked.

"What a comeback, what a win," he said. "I don't know who picks this running order, how this wasn't on first, I'll never know!"

Many have tipped Leicester to go down this season.

But with nine points from eight matches, they've given themselves a good chance of staying in the Premier League.

Leicester boss Steve Cooper spoke out after the game.

And the Englishman was delighted at the way his side performed, telling the BBC: "I always felt we were in the game in the first half, we should do better with the goals and some bits tactically but I always felt we were more than in the game.

"We missed a couple of good chances, hit the woodwork, but obviously you are 2-0 down and there is a real job to do.

"At half-time it was about belief and sticking together and really believing that the game wasn't over.

"In the second half, we showed our quality, we showed our aggression in the game, and completely controlled the second half and looked like the team who were going to score and score again.

"In the end, the way that you win hopefully becomes a memorable day for the team, the staff and most importantly the supporters."

Southampton boss Russell Martin, meanwhile, blasted his side's 'lack of courage' as they crashed to yet another defeat.

"I’m just a bit angry we’ve lost the game,” he fumed. "I'm angry that we were 2-0 up and lost 3-2."

On why they threw the game away, he added: “Lack of courage to play football properly when we're 2-0 up.

"Second half we started really well and then we don't take a chance to make it 3-0. We had a couple of really good chances and then concede."
