Erling Haaland has publicly hit out at his boyhood club Bryne FK after they abruptly terminated the contracts of three players, a move the Manchester City star branded chaotic.
The 25-year-old striker, now one of football’s biggest names after winning the Treble in his first season at City, has rarely spoken out about issues at his former clubs.
But this week he broke that silence with a furious social media post aimed at the Norwegian side where his career began.
Haaland joined Bryne’s academy as a five-year-old in 2005, spending over a decade developing at the club before stepping into the senior set-up.

He made 16 first-team appearances before leaving in 2017 to join Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s Molde, a move that put him on the path to RB Salzburg, Borussia Dortmund and eventually Manchester City.
Despite his global status, Haaland has always acknowledged his roots at Bryne, the town where he grew up after being born in Leeds while his father Alf-Inge was playing in England.
That connection explains his anger at the way the club announced the exits of Axel Kryger, Jens Husebo and Robert Undheim.
With Bryne languishing 14th in Norway’s Eliteserien, the team issued a short statement: “We have agreed to terminate the contracts with Axel Kryger, Jens Husebo and Robert Undheim.

"We thank them for their commitment to the red and white team and wish them continued success.” No explanation was offered.
Haaland wasted little time reacting. On his Snapchat account, he wrote: “Speak out, Bryne FK. What the hell is going on?”
He later admitted he was too agitated to sleep while away on Norway duty, replying to a follower: “Yes, I should [sleep], but there is chaos at my home club, and it makes me angry, so now I can’t sleep.”
The reaction has caused a stir in Norway, where local outlet NRK reported on the controversy.

While Undheim chose not to comment beyond a message affirming his love for Bryne, Kryger was more candid: “We chose to go our separate ways.
"That’s how it had to be, and both the club and I agreed on that.
"I wish Bryne all the best and have had a great time there. It ended badly, but that’s how it is sometimes.”
Haaland’s outburst reflects his enduring loyalty to the club where he first made his name.
Though he only featured briefly before moving up the ladder, his bond with Bryne runs deep, and his frustration at the lack of transparency highlights his desire for the club to handle matters with more care.
For Manchester City, Haaland’s focus remains sharp.
