The squad is set for Euros 2025

Sarina Wiegman has announced her squad for Euros 2025, following a trio of shock withdrawals over the past few weeks for the England squad.

Her 23 women squad includes staple players Lucy Bronze, Georgia Stanway and Beth Mead.

Brighton forward Michelle Agyemang, who is on loan from Arsenal, was 41 seconds into her England debut when she scored a spectacular goal against Belgium that caught the eye of fans - and manager Wiegman.

The attention appears to have bagged the 19-year-old a place in the Euros squad.

It's been a turbulent few weeks for Wiegman, as Mary Earps announced her shock retirement from the international team at the end of May.

Fran Kirby also announced her immediate retirement from international football earlier this week, and Millie Bright announced she was unavailable for the summer Euros on Wednesday.

All three players started for England in the 2-1 victory over Germany in the Euro Final in 2022 to lift their first major trophy.

Kirby announced her retirement on Tuesday after finding out she would not be included in the Euros squad.

She scored 19 goals in 77 appearances for the Lionesses, and has been a part of the squad for over a decade.

"It is something I have been thinking about for over a year. I knew this was going to be my last major tournament. The plan was to retire after the Euros but after speaking to Sarina I'm not going to make the squad,” she said.

The loss of three players in such short notice has allowed the opportunity for young women to get the chance to represent their country.

A surprise inclusion in the squad is Lauren James. She has not played since she suffered a hamstring injury in April, but was a stand out performer when England reached the World Cup final in 2023.

However, questions over her fitness remain.
