Chelsea's poor start to the season has continued after a chastening defeat to Wolves on Sunday.

The Blues went into the game on a high after beating Everton to make the semi-finals of the Carabao Cup earlier in the week.

Yet Chelsea weren't clinical and paid the price, with Mario Lemina and Matt Doherty scoring to give Wolves all three points despite a late consolation from Christopher Nkunku.

GB News now takes a look at four players who let Mauricio Pochettino down as his side slumped to yet another defeat, with their season going from bad to worse.

Raheem Sterling

Raheem Sterling has blown hot and cold since his move to Chelsea from Manchester City in 2022.

And this was yet another bad day at the office for the England international.

Sterling prompted anger from fans after a big miss in the first half, shooting straight at Jose Sa despite having Nicolas Jackson and Cole Palmer up top with him.

That failure to score would come back to bite Chelsea, with Lemina making them pay just six minutes into the second half.

Sterling is brilliant on his day but, ever since his move to Stamford Bridge, has been a shadow of the forward he used to be.

Nicolas Jackson

Chelsea signed Nicolas Jackson in the summer convinced he would be a Premier League hit.

Fast-forward to now, however, and the forward looks well and truly out of his depth in English football.

Jackson has more yellow cards than Premier League goals this season and it's clear Chelsea are crying out for an upgrade.

He had a wonderful chance to level for his side just moments after Lemina's goal but, due to his clumsiness, couldn't dispatch a shot.

Chelsea need a fresh No 9 in January, though the return of Nkunku from injury certainly hands Pochettino a boost.

Djordje Petrovic

Djordje Petrovic was the hero for Chelsea in midweek.

But his failure to command his area for Lamina's goal was a huge gaffe, allowing Wolves to take control of the match.

Petrovic started to come but then opted against it, quickly retreating as he looked to stop the ball from going in.

Had he shown more bravery and confidence, he could potentially have punched the ball away to safety.

Instead, Chelsea now have to accept another defeat.

Chelsea striker Armando Broja was poor in his side's Premier League defeat to Wolves on Sunday

Armando Broja was unleashed from the start for Chelsea against Wolves.

However, the 22-year-old failed to make the most of his opportunity with fans turning on the striker as a result.

Just like Jackson, Broja is toothless at times.

He works hard for the team but his lack of cutting edge in front of goal is a huge worry - and yet another reason why Chelsea need an upgrade.

If they're to somehow challenge for a place in the top four, Chelsea need to splash more cash in the New Year and bring in a proper marksman.

Until then, their struggles will likely continue.
