Oscar Piastri had to apologise to McLaren after he almost collided with Lando Norris.
The championship leader admitted to “pushing the boundaries” after the misjudgment left him mere centimetres from his team-mate during Sunday's race.
This comes just a fortnight after the two McLarens made contact at the end of the Canadian Grand Prix, with that incident forcing Norris to retire. Luckily, there were no such issues for the Woking team this weekend.
The McLaren pit wall did make sure to warn the Australian about his move. Soon after his first stop his race engineer Tom Stallard came over the radio: "Feedback from the pit wall, the manoeuvre in Turn Four with the lock up was too marginal. We can't do that again."

After the race, Piastri immediately apologised to the team over the radio: "Sorry for the move in Turn Four. My bad."
Elaborating to the media after the race, he added: "I mean, I thought it was a fair comment.
"Locking up and missing the back of your team-mate by not a lot is certainly pushing the boundaries.

"Even if I hadn't been told anything, I didn't think it was a wise decision to try that one again. So, yeah, a fair comment and nothing more than that."
Team boss Andrea Stella also opened up on the incident after the race.
“We needed to give Oscar a bit of advice in terms of the manoeuvre in corner four, which he actually acknowledged," he stated.

"It's not easy. It's Formula 1, he's racing hard, but it's a good day."

Following the contact in Canada, a lot of the conversations coming into Austria surrounded whether or not McLaren would continue to their drivers to race and compete against each other.
But Stella said the team “were very proud of how they handled the situation.”

He continued: "They are obviously stressful moments but we trust, we rely on Oscar and Lando.
"And also, once we are on the pit wall, you just try to stay as chilled as possible, analyse rationally what is going on."
The McLarens will now switch their focus onto the British Grand Prix, with Norris looking in prime position to take his first home Grand Prix victory.
