Lewis Hamilton has been criticised for his attitude as he continues to struggle to get to grips with Ferrari.
His first race at Monza in red was marred by the week before, as Hamilton carried over a 5-place grid penalty for not respecting yellow flags, meaning he started the race from tenth after a decent qualifying saw him demoted.
Ferrari struggled for pace in the race after looking strong in the opening sessions of the weekend, with the seven-time champion topping Free Practice 1.
With the penalty to come for the Briton many expected him to give team-mate Charles Leclerc a slipstream in qualifying to aid his attempts for pole, but that wasn’t the case, and former Ferrari driver Jean Alesi has taken aim at the 40-year-old for his decision.

He revealed: “'I didn’t like Hamilton’s attitude. He really could and perhaps should have helped Leclerc on Saturday during qualifying.
''Many were expecting this kind of behaviour from Lewis, without even being asked, given his words, the course of the season, and his first meeting with the Italian fans.

'We’ll have to wait for the next Hamilton, it’s clear by now, while keeping faith and trust.''
While Alesi may not have been happy with Hamilton’s actions, Ferrari team principal Fred Vasseur defended his star driver and backed him to come good.

After the race, he said: “I think the energy that he received from the Tifosi on Wednesday, Thursday in [Milan] was something very special for him,
"I don't know if it was expected from him or I don't know what he was expecting from this, but it was something mega and I think this gave him an extra boost all over the weekend.
“Even tonight when he went to the fans to say hello and the Tifosi was something mega. I don't know if you underestimate this or not, that we didn't discuss too much about this, but I think, and even for me, each time that I'm going there I'm surprised."

While the weekend did not go as expected for the Scuderia, Vasseur is focusing on the positives from the weekend.
He continued: “We didn't do the race of our life, we were expecting to be at least on the podium, we are not, but they are still there, they are still enthusiastic, still pushing and it's why I'm a bit disappointed that we were not able to give them a podium this weekend.

“But I'm really convinced that it's part of the energy into the team and the positive energy around Lewis this weekend.”
Hamilton and Ferrari will now have a week off to recover from the highs of racing at home before they head to Baku for the Azerbaijan Grand Prix to continue the season.
