Lando Norris suffered a slip of the tongue in the post-sprint press conference.

Lando Norris looks set to be slapped with a four-figure fine after swearing during the post-sprint press conference in Qatar.

The British driver was speaking after moving to one side and gifting Oscar Piastri the victory in Qatar's Sprint, paying his team-mate back for what happened in Brazil.

While trying to talk about some 'privileges' Norris appears to lose his train of thought and blurts out 's***'.

Realising his mistake, Norris lets out a wry smile and puts his head in his hands before adding: "Oh god."

Russell wasted no time in poking fun at his rival's slip of the tongue, replying: "That's a fine."

Norris then issues an apology before going back to answer the original question.

Despite Norris saying sorry, he looks set to receive a fine as Charles Leclerc received a similar punishment for swearing during a press conference.

The Ferrari driver blurted out 'f***' while describing a hair-raising moment during the Mexico City Grand Prix.

Leclerc apologised immediately and pointed to the punishment Max Verstappen received earlier in the year.

"Sorry! Oh no! Oh nooo! I don't want to join Max [laughs]," Leclerc joked.

But Leclerc was unable to get away with it as the FIA fined him 10,000 euros (£7,700), half of which was suspended on the premise he didn't repeat the offence within 12 months.

Norris' slip-up came just after McLaren secured a one-two in the Qatar Grand Prix Sprint race to move them one step closer to the Constructors' Championship.

Red Bull can no longer catch McLaren at the top of the standings while Ferrari slipped back a further six points.

There are now 24 points between McLaren and Ferrari heading into the final two races of the year.

"We scored one-two and that's what we were aiming for today. We've got maximum points, so we're happy," Norris said.

"We're happy as a team, we've executed things perfectly.

"The pace was good, I probably could have pushed a little bit more than what I was doing, but we wanted to keep the others behind so we tried to help out and not let George get too close. We did our job and that's the main thing."
