Michael Schumacher's lawyer has shed light on 'discussions' regarding a final health report on the F1 icon.

The German was involved in a tragic skiing accident back in December 2013.

Schumacher sustained life-threatening injuries in the crash and was then placed in an induced coma.

He was fortunate to survive and, had he not been wearing a helmet, could even have died at the scene.

Updates on Schumacher's condition have been rare in the years since, with his family preferring to keep things private.

And his family lawyer, Felix Damm, has now shed light on why an official report on the Ferrari legend was never released.

Speaking to LTO, Damm explained they didn't want the report regularly checked by the media to avoid making headlines.

"Of course, we discussed a lot about how this is possible," he said.

"So we also considered whether a final report about Michael's health could be the right way to do this.

"But that wouldn't have been the end of it and there would have had to be constantly updated 'water level reports'.

"Because as those affected, it is not up to you to put an end to the media.

"They could pick up on such a report again and again and ask, 'And what does it look like now?' one, two, three months or years after the message.

"And if we then wanted to take action against this reporting, we would have to deal with the argument of voluntary self-disclosure."

A decade on, there seems to be no end to the mystery surrounding Schumacher.

Close friend Roger Benoit, however, did recently say the German was a 'case without hope'.

"No," he told Blick when asked if he was able to provide an update on Schumacher and his condition.

"There is only one answer to this question and that is what his son Mick gave in one of his rare interviews in 2022: ‘I would give anything to talk to dad’.

"This sentence says everything about how his father has been doing for over 3500 days. A case without hope.”

Benoit was referring to comments made by Schumacher's son, Mick.

Last year, the 24-year-old said: “I think dad and me, we would understand each other in a different way now.

"We would have had much more to talk about and that is where my head is most of the time, thinking that would be so cool.

"I would give up everything just for that.

"These moments that I believe many people have with their parents are no longer present, or to a lesser extent."

Johnny Herbert, meanwhile, has claimed Schumacher's brother Ralf has now changed as a person in the years since his sibling sustained the serious injuries.

"When Ralf Schumacher was with Sky Germany we often met," he said.

"Ralf has had to do a lot of things for and with the family given what happened to Michael.

"He has matured. He is very different now to the person he was as a driver.

"He is a good human being now. He has changed a lot having had to cope with the ongoing situation with his brother."
