"When Luke's on it, he's untouchable," the 30-year-old acknowledged following the defeat.

The world number one conceded that Littler's exceptional scoring left him with minimal opportunities to mount a comeback.

"I played pretty well today, but when you run into a 115 average, there's not much you can do," Humphries reflected.

The result marks Littler's fourth World Series of Darts title in what has become an extraordinary campaign for the young sensation.

Littler's route to the championship match saw him dispatch Mike De Decker 6-2 in the quarter-finals, marking his sixth straight victory against the Belgian opponent.

The teenager subsequently produced a commanding 7-2 triumph over Gerwyn Price in the semi-finals, posting an average approaching 109.

Humphries advanced to defend his crown by defeating Damon Heta 6-2 in the last eight. The 30-year-old then overcame Chris Dobey 7-4 in their semi-final encounter, maintaining a 102 average whilst registering seven maximum scores.

Saturday's showpiece attracted a record-breaking attendance at the Auckland venue, creating an electric atmosphere for the championship decider.

Humphries identified a crucial moment that might have altered the contest's trajectory.

"I think if I'd won that sixth leg it might have given me a glimmer of hope, but the better player won for sure," Humphries admitted.

"I held in there and I gave it my best, but he was just too good in the end."

Littler expressed satisfaction with his performance despite encountering early difficulties.

"I had a shaky start in my opening game, but once you come into Finals Night you know you have to switch it on, and that's what I did again tonight," the teenager explained.

The atmosphere inside the venue left a strong impression on the young champion. "The crowd were brilliant and the venue was incredible – it felt like a Premier League night, and I'm very happy to lift another title," Littler said.

Looking ahead, the 18-year-old radiated confidence about maintaining his exceptional form. "I'm playing very well at the moment, I'm enjoying my darts, and hopefully I can keep this winning streak going."
